    Chain Ligation Orthodontia

Chain ligations are performed on patients who have a tooth that has not surfaced or moved into proper alignment with the other teeth. Dr. Follmar generally performs chain ligations after an orthodontist (a dentist who places braces on your teeth for straightening) has referred the patient to him.  The tooth is first exposed, by removing the soft tissue covering the tooth, and then a bracket and chain are placed on the tooth. Your orthodontist will attach this chain to your braces and use it to gradually pull that tooth into alignment.
